Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet at Vanderbilt

Team Type 1 is the world’s only pro cycling team with a roster that includes riders who have type 1 diabetes. Team Type 1 strives to instill hope and inspiration for people around the world affected by diabetes. With appropriate diet, exercise, treatment and technology, the team believes anyone with diabetes can achieve their dreams.

 

TT1 riders have been regulars at Vanderbilt Diabetes Family Day since its inception five years ago. The team has inspired dozens of patients at Vanderbilt Children’s to reach for the best possible diabetes control. Dr. Bill Russell, Director of the Children’s Diabetes Program and TrialNet Principal Investigator, has served as TT1 Endocrinologist for the past four years. He accompanied the championship TT1 riders on the grueling Race Across America yearly since 2009.
