The Joint Commission is the major accreditation body for hospitals in the US.  The Vanderbilt University Hospitals and Clinics received accreditation in 2009.
   

 

America's Best Hospitals, an annual ranking of the country's elite medical centers by U.S. News and World Report, is a tool for patients who need medical sophistication most facilities cannot offer.  For 2009-10, Vanderbilt is ranked #16!  Additionally, Vanderbilt's hospital ranked in the top twenty in nine specialties.

   


The Leapfrog Group, a leading national patient safety organization, ranked both Vanderbilt University Hospital and Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital as Top Hospitals for 2009.

The American Nurses' Credentailing Center has awarded the Magnet Recognition Program® award to Vanderbilt University Hospitals and Clinics, and Monroe Carrell, Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.  This designates Vanderbilt as a health care organization that provides nursing excellence.
