The Vanderbilt Coalition for Healthy Aging
Vanderbilt students founded the Student Community Health Coalition (SCHC) in 1968. SCHC students staffed mobile medical units and health fairs, conducted community-directed research, and worked alongside leaders in underserved communities.
Since the 1980s, the SCHC has focused on care and prevention for seniors. Students, faculty, volunteers, and members renamed the program the Vanderbilt Coalition for Healthy Aging in the 2000s.
The Student Community Health Coalition and the Vanderbilt Coalition for Healthy Aging have provided health screenings, fitness activities, in-home service projects, and health education to thousands of people across the Southeast.
