The Shade Tree Clinic
About
The Shade Tree Family Clinic provides free medical and social services to more than 1300 medically underserved constituents each year. Shade Tree provides primary, subspecialty, and urgent care to Spanish- and English-speaking patients. It also connects uninsured patients to state-sponsored insurance programs. Vanderbilt medical students manage and staff the clinic, which is located in East Nashville. Vanderbilt Medical Center provides laboratory and pharmacy services free of charge.
Vanderbilt medical students, generous donors, volunteers, and a receptive community transformed a double-wide trailer into the Shade Tree Clinic in 2004. The Shade Tree Clinic moved to the Foster Center in 2010.
