Nursing Continuing Education/Contact Hour Process

The Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development is accredited through the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) as an Approved Provider Unit for Nursing Contact Hours. Our provider unit is made up of a Primary Nurse Planner, a Co-Primary Nurse Planner, a Program Coordinator and several Nurse Planners. During the 2015 calander year our provider unit provided contact hours for 376 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) events, offering 1,518 Contact Hours to 8,015 activity participants.

It is our goal to facilitate the advancement of nursing practice through the dissemination of knowledge through continuing education opportunities with contact hours that meet the criteria set forth by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the TNA. We also aim to support nurses to maintain and improve knowledge and skills of professional practice and provide professional development activities that meet nurses’ educational needs in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
