Nursing Continuing Education/Contact Hour Processes

Welcome

Welcome to the Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) webpage.   We are pleased the Vanderbilt Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development have the ability to provide CNE contact hours for learning events to our Vanderbilt nursing community.   The information included in this site is intended to help your group plan and execute a quality learning event.   Contained within this website you will find information designed to guide you through the CNE process from planning your event, writing the objectives, completing the appropriate CNE forms and using the evaluation summaries following your event.

While we are pleased to be able to help with your learning event, there are several guidelines that must be followed in order for the event to qualify for CNE contact hours.  The nurse planner’s role is to provide the institutional oversight of all CNE events as required by our accrediting agency (Tennessee Nurses Association) and as such must be involved in all steps of the planning process.  First, prior to planning your event, you will need to consult one of the approved nurse planners.  The nurse planner must be actively involved from the beginning stages of planning the event.  Failure to complete this important step will inhibit our ability to provide CNE credit for the event.  Next, once a nurse planner has become a part of the planning group, they will be actively involved in the process and will be your resource as you move forward in organizing and planning your event.

We hope you will find this information helpful.  If you have additional questions or concerns you may contact Pam Allen, Primary Nurse Planner, - pamela.e.allen@vanderbilt.edu
