James Cannon, DDS, MS
Dr. James Cannon practices in Clermont, Ga. His DDS is from Emory and his MS in orthodontic training was at the University of Montreal. He has his own bracket design and treatment mechanics. His philosophy, in part, is: "All individuals are unique; therefore treatment plans must be individualized."
Jack C. Fisher, DMD
Dr. Fisher is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He completed his orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Georgia, and has been practicing orthodontics since 1983. He has had faculty appointments at NYU, Louisville and, now, Vanderbilt. He is interested in the use of skeletal anchorage devices, having developed systems for its use.
Bret Freedman, DMD
Dr. Bret Freedman practices in Atlanta, Madison, Lithonia and Athens, Georgia. He received his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his Orthodontic specialty training at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Freedman enjoys treating both children and adults. He has a true passion for technology and is constantly attempting to utilize his technological skills to increase treatment results and efficiency.
Clayton M. Fulks, DMD
Dr. Fulks has practices in Hendersonville, Gallatin, and White House, TN. He completed his orthodontic training at Vanderbilt University after receiving his DMD from Nova Southeastern University. When not spending time with his wife and young children, Dr. Fulks enjoys hunting, fishing, country music and college football.
Joe E. Gibson, DDS, MS
Dr. Gibson has practiced in Morristown, Tennessee since 1987. He received his dental degree as well as his Master's Degree in Orthodontics from the University of Tennessee. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and has been in private practice for 25 years. An avid pilot as well as community leader, Dr. Gibson is on the Hamblen County Board of Education and is a deacon of First Baptist Church in Morristown. He is married and has three children.
Joel Gluck, DDS
Dr. Joel Gluck has practiced orthodontics since 1983. He earned his dental degree at the University of Tennessee. HIs orthodontic residency was at Michigan, where he also received a Master of Science degree. In 1993, he became board certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Gluck is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical School and is on staff at Vanderbilt Hospital.
Cynthia A. Green, DDS
Dr Green has been practicing orthodontics in Clarksville, TN since 2006. She received her dental degree at Meharry School of Dentistry and her certification in orthodontics at Vanderbilt. "I feel blessed every day to know that I am able to make a difference in my patients' lives." Dr Green is board certified in orthodontics and enjoys staying on top of technological development in orthodontics. She shares her passion for orthodontics in the practice management course she gives to the orthodontic residents.
Bruce Haskell, DMD, PhD
Dr Haskell is a Clinical Professor at Vanderbilt. He is currently in private practice in Louisville, KY, and is also a Distinguished Teaching Professorand Clinical Professor at the University of Louisville. He is the past president of the Angle Society of the North Atlantic Section. He received his DMD from Pittsburgh, his Certificate in Orthodontics from Rochester and his Ph.D. from Pittsburgh. Dr Haskell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Bart Konarski, DDS
Dr. Konarski currently maintains an orthodontic practice in Mississauga, ON. He completed his orthodontic training at Vanderbilt University and greatly enjoys Nashville and the surrounding area. He also teaches part time at Vanderbilt with the orthodontic department. Other than a love for orthodontics, Bart enjoys exercising, golfing and spending time with his wife and family.
William Layman, DMD
Dr. Layman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Layman received his D.D.S. degree from the Medical University of South Carolina; his orthodontic training was at Vanderbilt. Before dental school, he served with the 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. Dr. Layman maintains a private practice, Straighten Up Orthodontics, in Clearwater and Saint Petersburg, FL. He visits Vanderbilt as a part-time lecturer for the residency.
Jon Lucas, DDS
Dr. Jon Lucas practices in Franklin, Tennessee. His DDS is from the University of Tennessee and his orthodontic training is from Vanderbilt. Dr. Lucas enjoys treating adults and children. He is an avid runner and recently participated (and completed) the New York marathon. Dr. Lucas spends every Thursday morning with our residents.
Allen H. Moffitt, DMD, MSD
Dr. Moffitt received his D.M.D. in 1970 from the University of Kentucky College of
Dentistry and his certificate in orthodontics and M.S.D. in 1974 from the University of Washington Dental School. He has practiced orthodontics for over 38 years in Murray, Kentucky. He is a former Director of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Midwest Angle Society, and serves as Associate Editor of Continuing Education for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
John Philipose, DMD, MS, MBA, PhD
Dr. Philipose received his dental degree and trained in Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics at the University of Louisville. Dr. Philipose also holds a master's degree in Oral Biology. He is the recipient of a prestigious K-8 award from the National Institutes of Health for research. Before coming to Vanderbilt, he was course director for Orthodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He currently has a private practice in Murfreesboro.
John C. Pryse, Jr., DDS
Dr. Pryse received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee Dental School, and his certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Louisville. He completed a mini-residency in oralfacial pain at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Pryse has been in private practice in Orthodontics for 35 years, and is active in the field, having served as past director from Tennessee to the Southern Association of Orthodontists and past president of the Tennessee Association of Orthodontists.
H. Clifton Simmons III, DDS
Dr. Simmons is a visiting lecturer at Vanderbilt. He is currently in private practice in Nashville, TN. Dr Simmons is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and Craniofacial Pain.
Sunya M. Sweeney, DMD
Dr. Sweeney grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia, and attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. After college, she moved to Augusta, Georgia where, in addition to getting her DMD at the Georgia Health Sciences University, she also adopted a beagle puppy. From there she went on to complete a general practice residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. In her spare time she likes to play tennis, paint and draw, and run with her dog.
