H. David Hall Lecture Series

Through the generosity of alumni and others, the H. David Hall Scholarship has also helped support the H. David Hall Lecture Series. Established in 2001, the H. David Hall Lecture Series provides a venue for the profession's top clinicians and academicians to share their knowledge with residents, faculty, alumni, and community colleagues.

Each spring, Dr. Hall is recognized for his dedication and contributions to resident education through the Annual H. David Hall Lecture Series.

In the spririt on Dr. David Hall's contributions to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, speakers for the annual H. David Hall Lecture are selected on the basis of noteworthy contributions to the specialty and, in particular, to resident education and training. On April 5, 2014, the Vanderbilt University Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was delighted to have Dr. Myron Tucker, DDS as the Keynote Speaker for the 14th Annual H. David Hall Lecture. The topic of Dr. Tucker's presentation was "Orthognathic Surgery: Evolution, Challenges, and Future."

Dr. Tucker received his Bachelor's Degree from Arizona State University in 1973. He competed his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1976. He completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency in 1982 at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Following residency, Dr. Tucker joined the full-time faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals, where he was the Director of Graduate Education in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from 1982-1992. He then entered private practice in Charlotte, NC and, after 18 years, recently retired. While maintaining a private practice, he held academic appointments as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Tucker is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and served as an examiner and section chairman for the ABOMS. Dr. Tucker has authored numerous textbooks, book chapters, and journal publications. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, on many subjects, with his primary focus on orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Tucker's contributions characterize the commitment to education, research, and excellence in surgical care that are H. David Hall's legacy to Vanderbilt University and the profession of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
