We have one of the largest clinical facilities of any academic center in the country and national leaders in virtually every domain of urologic surgery. Both our adult and pediatric urology programs are ranked among the top 10 in the country, one of only a few departments nationwide with this distinction.
Pediatric robotic-assisted surgery is now available at Children's Hospital. Pediatric Urology was the first division in Children's Hospital to use this technology, and we performed the first pediatric robotic renal surgery in the state of Tennessee. Our surgeons are also skilled at performing reconstructive procedures with standard laparoscopy. Minimally invasive surgery offers outcomes that mirror that of open surgery with excellent cosmesis and the potential for earlier recovery. Read more about robotic surgery.
Because of innovative techniques our surgeons and staff have pioneered, we have improved the surgical care of children with urologic problems. This includes improving their post-operative course and shortening their hospital stays.
