Coordinator, Ophthalmic Imaging
Sandy came to Vanderbilt in 2007 having previously worked 29 years for the University of Pittsburgh, Northwest as a medical and ophthalmic photographer. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. While in Pennsylvania, she was a member of the state’s Diabetes Task Force and served as a board member of the Association for the Blind. Her professional credentials include Certified Retinal Angiographer, Fellowship of the Ophthalmic Photographers’ Society and serving as the Chair of the OPS Certification Section.
Sandy, herself a diabetic, provides expert grading of diabetic eye screening images, develops new screening sites, trains screeners, coordinates quality assurance processes and conducts screenings. Sandy’s enthusiasm for ophthalmic imaging derives from her career experiences and her own health status.
She resides in Franklin and has been joined in Tennessee by her son, Alex, who is a college student.
