Academic Seminar Series

The Vanderbilt Eye Institute is proud to sponsor annually an academic seminar series in which top clinician-scientists and research scientists from various institutions present their latest studies and results. Our guest speakers are invited for two days of one-one-meetings with our own faculty and informal discussions with our doctoral and post-doctoral fellows. The focus of our series is translational research that bridges findings from the laboratory with clinical applications. For more information, please contact Dr. David Calkins, Ph.D.: david.j.calkins@vanderbilt.edu.

VEI Brown Bag Discussion Series

The VEI Brown Bag Discussion Series is designed to meet the need for faculty, fellows, residents, students and staff engaged or interested in research to meet regularly in an open forum to promote discussion, interactions and collaboration. This year, the series is aimed at updating VEI and VVRC researchers on scientific tools and services available for use at Vanderbilt.  We will highlight Vanderbilt Core Facilities as well as facilities offered by the Vanderbilt Vision Research Center. At each meeting, a representative from the featured core facility will provide details on services offered as well as up-coming services. These lectures are held in the VEI Elliott Conference Room from 12:30 to 1:30pm.

Comprehensive Ophthalmology Pearls Seminar

Each year in June, the faculty of Vanderbilt Eye Institute hosts a weekend event in which distinguished guest speakers discuss recent advances and the latest treatment modalities for diseases of the retina and vitreous, new technology in cataract and refractive surgery, state of the art glaucoma care, current concepts in neuro-ophthalmology, and treatment of common anterior segment pathology.  The two-day scientific program provides practical and invaluable information geared towards the practice of ophthalmology.
