Appointments

Before an appointment can be processed by the Graduate Medical Education Office, the following materials must be received in 209 Light Hall, campus zip 5823:

For Reappointments

For New Resident Appointments

  • A Vanderbilt application / ERAS for training
  • A current curriculum vitae
  • Copies of letters of recommendation
  • An official transcript (mailed directly to GME by the issuing institution)

For New Clinical Fellow Appointments

  • A Vanderbilt application / ERAS for training
  • A current curriculum vitae
  • Copies of letters of recommendation
  • An official transcript (mailed directly to GME by the issuing institution)

A letter from the Department/Division Chair requesting the appointment, addressed to the Associate Dean for GME, Donald Brady.  At a minimum, this letter should include:

  • Position/Title
  • PGY Level
  • Appointment Period
  • Funding Source and Location
  • A Vanderbilt application / ERAS for training
  • A current curriculum vitae
  • Copies of letters of recommendation
  • An official transcript (mailed directly to GME by the issuing institution)
  • If the applicant is to be supported by an NIH Training Grant, a copy of the grant is required.

Position Request Form

The position request form is distributed annually.

Additional requirements

If the applicant graduated from a medical school outside of the US, Canada or Puerto Rico, a copy of a valid ECFMG Certificate is required.  The Adminstrative Director for GME at Vanderbilt is the designated Training Program Liaison for ECFMG Graduates.

If the applicant is a foreign national, a copy of a valid J-1 or H-B visa is required.
