With the prices of gas rising and the push for becoming more environmentally conscious greater, carpooling is an effective answer to both of these issues. Carpools also provide commuters the opportunity to share fuel costs, vehicle "wear and tear," and parking expenses. In an effort to conserve the environment and provide alternative transportation methods for employees, VUMC created a "Ride-Match" website that facilitates the identification of potential carpool partners. To access this website, log onto www.VMCRideMatch.com. VUMC also has a discounted carpool process for those carpools that are already formed and do not need to use "Ride-Match" to find a partner. Click "Forming a Carpool" for more information.
Vanderbilt has partnered with the Transportation Management Association (TMA) to enable all employees at the university to enjoy this money saving and environmentally friendly commuting solution. Vanpooling allows riders to share on gas costs, avoid wear and tear on their personal vehicles and to save money on parking.
If you are interested in joining or forming a vanpool, please log onto: www.vanstar.com
Note: Vanpools with 50% or more Vanderbilt employees receive free parking for their van. On occasions when riders must drive their personal vehicles, free parking is available at Lot 127 and Day Passes are available for South Garage and N Lot for $3.00
