Streetlight and Traffic Signal Improvement
On March 13, 2009, the Metro Department of Public Works plans to begin work to upgrade a series of signalized intersections and replace street lights along West End Avenue between I-40/Broadway and I-440/Murphy Road. Work times will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to minimize disruptions.

 East Garage Valet Parking Changes
East Garage Level 2 and Ground Level valet services will be consolidated to Level 1, and a new entrance from 21st Avenue South near the Medical Arts Building will open. The wider lanes and more direct route in and out of the garage are expected to make valet parking more efficent.

 Vanderbilt Extends "Free Ride to Work" 
Beginning Aug. 15, Vanderbilt University will extend its Free Ride program to graduate and professional school students, allowing them to commute to and from campus for free. To ride free, graduate and professional school students simply swipe their VU ID card as they board an MTA bus going to and from campus, and Vanderbilt will be charged for the ride. Statistical information is then electronically gathered so the university can monitor the program's effectiveness. 
 
Permit Renewals Important Announcement
If your annual parking permit has expired or will be expiring soon, please keep it displayed and visible.  Your permit will remain valid through this fall and your deduction will continue as usual. VMC Parking and Transportation Services is in the process of implementing a new online registration program. Once our user-friendly online registration system is up and running, you will then be asked to register and recieve your new permit.  We look forward to serving you with this exciting, convenient service.

Parking Garage Rates Increase 
Another change will be the parking rates in the South Garage, Levels Y and Z, Lot 10, the 25th Garage, Level W, and the Village at Vanderbilt will increase to $75.  In addition to these rate changes, two hundred new parking spaces have come open in the Central Garage in Levels 3 through 1.  These new parking spaces, labeled CW, will also be $75 per month.  They have been offered to those parking the South Garage, Levels Y and Z, Lot 10, 25th Garage, Level W, and the Village at Vanderbilt.

Vanpool to Work 
The option of vanpooling is now available to all Vanderbilt Medical Center employees.  If  interested in participating, employees are encouraged to visit www.VMCRideMatch.com and sign up.

Free Parking 
Vanderbilt Medical Center has expanded tremendously over the past several years, and with that, more and more employees and patients are parking around Vanderbilt Campus.  Space is limited in many of the garages, but solutions are being planned to accommodate every Medical Center employee.  As a reminder, there is free parking at Lot 127 next to Greer Stadium.
