Accreditation & Standards

The office of Accreditation & Standards (ASD) coordinates and has oversight for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), state, and The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Additionally, Accreditation & Standards has oversight of the policy process throughout the Medical Center.

VUMC is accredited with TJC and is surveyed at least every three years to ensure compliance with their standards, as well as with CMS guidelines. TJC has "deemed status" with CMS.  Deemed status authorizes TJC to survey hospitals on behalf of CMS.
