Karon Killian, MSN, RN


Karon began her nursing career in 1985 when she graduated from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi.  Several years later, Karon graduated from University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama with a MSN degree focusing in nursing education.  Her nursing background includes adult medicine, home health direct patient care and nursing education, and teaching at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi.

Karon’s primary focus is on Vanderbilt Medical Group’s education needs.  She is currently coordinating the Medical Assistant Exam Review Course, Medical Assistant Student Externships, Telephone Nurse Triage Orientation, Clinic Specific Competencies, and other VMG-related competencies including VMG Orientation.  Karon is also the editor of VMG In the Know and a Continuing Education Planner.  She enjoys being an education resource for learners and a support person for the Vanderbilt clinics.

Karon has three married daughters, two of which are married to military men and are stationed in Colorado and South Korea.  Her middle daughter is a nurse and resides in Mississippi.  She has one grandson, four-year-old Jacob, with another grandbaby, Tanner, due Christmas Day.  Karon enjoys auctions, reading, church activities, and spending time with her family.
