Children's Hospital Clinical Orientation

Pediatric Clinical Orientation is designed to familiarize newly hired staff with practices and policies specific to the inpatient clinical environment in the children's hospital.  Orientation will vary in length depending on the specific needs of the work area and the individual's prior work-experience or skill-level.  Through a combination of skill review, didactic and discussion sessions, and web-based modules, staff gain a thorough knowledge-base related to the clinical practice in Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Clinical orientation is planned and provided by the department of Nursing Education and Professional Development.  In addition to orientation, NEPD works with hospital unit leaders to provide ongoing educational support to clinical staff.
