Welcome

The Neurodiagnostics Laboratories are part of Vanderbilt's Neurology Department.  We perform highly specialized diagnostic tests that assess anatomy or functioning of the brain, spinal cord, muscles, nerves and blood flow.

Different techniques are used, such as electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), quantitative sudomotor axon reflex (Qsart), nerve conduction studies (NCS), different types of evoked potentials (EP), polysomnography, and ultrasound.

Our goal is to get a reliable and complete diagnostic test your physician can use to help diagnose, manage, and monitor your specific health concern.  The following recommendations are provided to help us better serve you.

  • Take all your medications normally, unless your physician has instructed you otherwise.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your test for check-in.
  • Please bring your insurance card and any co-payments or deductibles.
  • There are several different types of EEG and sleep tests.  To the left, you will find a list of the types most commonly performed on outpatients.  If you are unsure of the specific type your physician has requested for you, please call your doctor’s office for verification, or you may contact our laboratory at (615) 322-0959.
  • If you are bringing a child for testing, we ask that you inform your child of what to expect during the test.  We also encourage you to have the child “practice” on a doll or stuffed animal beforehand.

The division is comprised of experienced, highly qualified, nationally-recognized personnel all committed to performing high-quality studies and making your experience pleasurable, productive and informative.

It is a pleasure to serve you.

Please, let us know how we can help.
