The program has 39 resident positions, 24 in adult neurology and 15 in child neurology. Nine new residents are appointed each year, six in general neurology and three in child neurology.
All neurology applicants must have completed or anticipate completing a doctorate in medicine prior to starting residency training here. All adult neurology positions are filled through the National Neurology Matching Program. While you match for the entire 4 years of training, the PGY-1 year is spent primarily in the Department of Internal Medicine. For information on the Vanderbilt internal medicine program, click here. For child neurology, the PGY-1 and PGY-2 years are spent primarily in the Department of Pediatrics.
