Dr. McGirt’s clinical interests include treatments for all disorders of the spine, with particular interest in spinal deformity, spinal oncology and minimally invasive surgery. He holds unique expertise in treating complex spinal deformity, and degenerative disease of the cervical and lumbar spine using minimally invasive techniques.
As Director of Clinical Spine Research, he utilizes a comprehensive outcomes registry to determine surgical procedures that are the most effective and result in the greatest quality of life for patients with spine disorders.
Education:
Dr. McGirt completed his undergraduate studies, magna cum laude, from Duke University, and obtained his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine.
Postgraduate Training:
Dr. McGirt completed his residency training in neurological surgery, as well as a fellowship in complex spinal reconstruction at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
