Dr. Hong Yu

Dr. Yu  joins our surgical faculty after serving as Assistant Professor at Stanford University Medical in Centerin,​California. Her clinical interest is in general neurosurgery with a specialized interest in advancing the application of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of neurologic and psychiatric diseases. Dr. Yu's research focuses on the development of a statistical, physiologic brain atlas and its application in DBS targeting and programming. 

A prolific author in numerous peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Yu has been published in NeuromodulationFrontiers in Human Neuroscience and the Journal of Neurosurgery involving her research in deep brain stimulation and intracranial hypotension producing reversible coma.

Dr. Yu has received numerous awards during her career including the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery 2008 Biennial Meeting Poster Award, the Southern Neurosurgical Society Clinical Science Resident Award in 2007 and the American Medical Women's Association Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation in 2002.

She is a 2012 Diplomate, of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Yu is a member of numerous associations including the American Medical Association, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, North American Neuromodulation Society and the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.

Education:
In
 1998, Dr. Yu received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and received her Medical Degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2002.

Post-Graduate Education:
Dr. Yu  completed her residency in Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2009.
