Award Criteria for Pediatric Nurse Residents Nominations

Below is the criteria Pediatric Nurse Residents should consider when placing their nominations.  Winners for each award will be revealed during their Cohort's Match Day Celebration.

Preceptor Award Criteria

Pediatric Nurse Residency Katie Pierce Preceptor Award nominees must demonstrate the following:

  •  Excellence in nursing practice when mentoring, teaching, and coaching others
  •  Effective communication skills 
  •  Ability to provide appropriate feedback
  •  Enthusiasm for the nursing profession
  •  Competency in nursing skills and assessments
  •  Continually exudes a positive attitude
  •  Promotes and furthers VUMC's mission and credo values through their work and commitment

Spirit Award
Spirit Award Nominees must demonstrate the following:

  • A love for the nursing profession
  • Caring and compassion for patients and families
  • Willingness to learn all aspects of nursing
  • A "true" team player
  • Serves as a role model of professional practice for peers
  • Excels at demonstrating family-centered care

Best Nursing Team Award

  • Devotion to Excellent Patient Care
  • Consistent demonstration of Professional Nursing 
  • Welcoming atmosphere to Nurse Residents
  • Openness and willingness to mentor and teach Nurse Residents 
  • Demonstrates teamwork and spirit of cooperation
