The first seven weeks of the Nurse Residency provides an opportunity to meet and work with many people. Even though all Vanderbilt University Medical Center staff are expected to exhibit professional behaviors described by our Credo, some staff members are particularly outstanding.
As a Nurse Resident, you have the opportunity to recognize these professionals within your specialty track in three distinct categories. At the end of the seven-week rotational period, you will be asked to participate in a survey nomination process. The Pediatric Nurse Residents will also nominate outstanding individuals from their area.
Award recipients from both the Adult Health and Pediatric patient care areas will be revealed on Match Day. The award categories with criteria are:
Preceptor Award
Awarded to one preceptor from each of the Adult Health specialty tracks
Preceptors nominated must demonstrate the following:
Nurse Resident Spirit Award
Awarded to one Nurse Resident from each of the Adult Health specialty tracks
Recognition of a Nurse Resident colleague from your specialty track who demonstrates the following:
Best Nursing Team
Awarded to one unit from each of the Adult Health specialty tracks
Recognition of a unit nursing team which works collectively to achieve excellent patient care, collegiality, and exhibits an atmosphere that is supportive and hospitable by demonstrating the following:
