Steve Blanks, CRNA MCM, serves at the Chief Nurse Anesthetist for both Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. In addition to this role he serves as the Administrative Director of Anesthesia Technical Services in Perioperative Services of VUMC. Steve received a BS degree in Biology and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University then completed his anesthesia training at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Steve came to Vanderbilt as a CRNA in 1976 and has served continually in that capacity since then. He became the Chief Nurse Anesthetist in the late 1980s. In 2008 Steve earned a Master’s degree in Conflict Management from Lipscomb University, a degree he has found extremely useful in all his endeavors.
