Vikram Tiwari, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, and Director Surgical Business Analytics at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville. Before joining Vanderbilt, Vikram was an Assistant professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management at the University of Houston, Houston. He received B.S. in Electronics engineering (JMI – India), MBA in Information Systems (IIT Chicago) and Ph.D. in Operations Management and Decision Sciences (Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, Bloomington). He has work experience at both strategic and hands-on decision making levels in healthcare and non-healthcare industries. His current research interests lie in the area of healthcare operations management. He has worked on several projects aimed at improving operating room efficiencies and controlling costs. His research methodologies include systems modeling and simulation, queueing, linear and non-linear optimization and supply chain principles. His research has been published in Interfaces, European Journal of Operational Research, Healthcare Management Science, Journal of Surgical Research, and, American Journal of Surgery.
