POPS

This year we introduced Project Opportunity Parent Sessions, or "POPS", into our curriculum. POPS are monthly, one hour sessions for the parents and/or guardians of our student interns. These meetings are attended by Project Opportunity staff, parents, and occasional guest speakers to discuss relevant issues that affect not only our student interns' employability, but their futures.

POPS include relevant information such as in-depth orientation to our program outlining specific policies, procedures and ultimate goals; details on specific job skills being learned and ways to support and encourage those skills at home; vital information regarding Social Security and to what degree working affects those benefits; options for transitioning to adulthood; developing social networks; and independent living.
