The mission of the Vanderbilt Addiction Center is to decrease the burden to society and healthcare costs of substance use, abuse, and addiction and related medical and psychiatric disorders. The Vanderbilt Addiction Center facilitates collaboration across the University in research, education, and clinical care such that better understanding, prevention, and treatment of substance use and related problems will result.

Linking Clinical Phenotypes and Molecular Underpinnings of Addiction
The major goal of this project is to train addiction psychiatrist to link data from emerging biomedical technologies (e.g. genomics, proteomics, and various other measures of body structure and function) with clinical observations to refine the diagnosis and treatment of their patients.
