Dr. Samet Kose joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2009. His prior research focused on the brain basis of psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety, mood disorders, and postpartum depression. Dr. Kose’s current research at Vanderbilt focuses on associative learning/ relational memory and functional connectivity/ resting state brain activity in patients with schizophrenia and first-episode psychosis. Recipient of Health Emotions Research Institute Scholars Award (Top 15 scientist), NARSAD Young Investigator Award, and APA’s Research Colloquium Junior Investigator Award. His “Cummings: A Profile of a Poet” book has received favorable reviews by the literary critics.

Anxiety disorders, treatment resistant depression, postpartum depression.
Research interests
Neural correlates of social bonding, attachment, empathy, alexithymia, deception, and personality correlates of psychiatric disorders. Neuroimaging in psychiatric disorders, treatment resistant depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, brain stimulation therapies in psychiatric disorders (VNS, TMS, DBS).
