David Shau completed his undergraduate education at The University of Texas in May 2010, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with Honors. He has assisted with research projects conducted at The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Texas at Houston Medical School, The MD Anderson Cancer Center, and The Ohio State University. His current research goal is to better understand Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) by performing a prospective cohort study and using validated outcome measures to assess whether revision and surgical decompression of the lumbar spine improves pain, disability, or quality of life in patients with FBSS resulting from same-level recurrent pathology. David is currently a third year medical student at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and is expected to earn his medical degree in 2014.
