Health Care Disparities Committee
The Health Disparities Committee seeks to engage Vanderbilt, and the community at large, in a discussion about equal access to quality health care in the United States. The committee hopes to expand the vision of Health Disparities Week 2011 to encompass many pressing issues across a number of diverse boundaries. This will be done through engaging presentations that explore familiar topics in an unconventional manner and deepen existing partnerships within the community.
The week will commence with daily trivia giveaways, to encourage our colleagues within our learning community and affirm their curiosity regarding health care inequality. These giveaways will continue daily throughout the week and serve a secondary purpose as a means of advertisement.Throughout the week, we will be hosting speakers, panels, and discussions on a broad variety of topics pertaining Health Disparities within our communities.
The committee hopes to conclude the week with a riveting performance of The Vagina Monologues, a collection of stories from women that explore sexuality and sexual responsibility in their respective communities. This stage presentation is sure to be a fitting end to a very innovative and informative Health Disparities Week 2011.
