 Dr. Gregg Stanwood received his Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. He completed postdoctoral fellowships in neurochemistry and developmental neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with support from the National Institutes of Health and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America Foundation.  

Gregg was recruited to Vanderbilt University in 2002 and became an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in 2007.  Gregg is an active member of several prominent scientific organizations, including the Society for Neuroscience, the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and the Neurobehavioral Teratology Society. 
 
The Stanwood lab's research interests are in the formation and function of brain circuits that control cognition, emotion, and addiction.  Gregg is also actively engaged in community efforts to increase awareness of neurodevelopmental disorders and their treatment in the Middle Tennessee area.
