The Center for Construction Education and Training (TCCET) is a non-profit organization located in Nashville, TN. TCCET's program is designed to teach 'at risk' young adults between the ages of 18-24 construction trades, assist them in obtaining a GED, inspire them to take responsibility for their families and neighborhoods, provide job training/placement, leadership development, counseling services, and higher education scholarships. Throughout the training, the students will be taught environmental practices in construction. TCCET was created and is managed by minority females.
TCCET is an equal opportunity employer. However, distressed communities are heavily recruited. Incoming students become members of AmeriCorps. While participating in construction training, AmeriCorps pays the member a living allowance, provides healthcare, financial assistance for childcare, and upon completion of the program he/she will receive a higher education award.
TCCET's instructors are certified through the National Center for Construction Education and Research. This standardized training/education will offer documented portable work skills for our students. TCCET has on staff a lead base paint risk assessor, supervisor, and a chemist.
