Introduction
The Department of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center is dedicated to providing state of the art medical and surgical care in all aspects of adult and pediatric Urology. The clinical faculty, under direction of the Chairman, Dr. Joseph A. Smith, Jr., is one of the largest in the country and includes nationally recognized leaders in all of the domains of Urologic care. Vanderbilt is one of the highest volume hospitals in the country for Urologic surgical procedures. We have a comprehensive approach to patient care which incorporates innovative diagnostic, treatment, and research capabilities. Trainees in our residency and fellowship programs are selected from the top institutions world wide and are expected to become leaders in the field of Urologic Surgery.
The Department of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt has recently been honored as being amongst the top ten in the country in the 2009 US News and World Reports hospital rankings.
