VUMC Magnet Designation

"I am a Vanderbilt Nurse"
Running Time 0:36

On April 18, 2012, we learned from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) that we achieved our second Magnet designation.  Our first designation was in November 2006.  Click to view a short video of our Magnet Journey.

Magnet designation is a known key indicator by which the nation's very best hospitals are measured.  The renewal of our designation is testimony to the tremendous focus and commitment of our nurses, nursing leadership and all members of our interdisciplinary teams provide to our patients.

In order to achieve Magnet designation, we had to satisfy a comprehensive set of criteria measuring the strength and quality of nursing and interdisciplinary collaboration.  Magnet recognized us for quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice.

Creating a Magnet culture at Vanderbilt has attracted the best of the best in all disciplines; supporting low turnover rates and a high level of job satisfaction throughout the Medical Center.
