Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU)

Hello,
I’m John David Hughes, BSN, RN, and I am the interim manager for the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) located on the 5th Floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The PCICU offers nurses the opportunity to care for a unique patient population of critically-ill children with all types of cardiac conditions.  Our nurses are equipped with specialized education on the newest evidence-based practices, a collaborative team of healthcare professionals, and cutting-edge technology and equipment to provide excellent quality of care to our patients and their families.  Our nurses are highly motivated and love to learn in this academic environment.  It is fast paced, collaborative, and very team oriented.  There is always something new in Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiothoracic surgery!
