Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital
|Psychotic Disorders Program||Adults (18 and older)||22||
Our unit primarily cares for patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, catatonia, schizoaffective disorder, and depression with psychotic features. VPH I is a milieu based environment that focuses on stabilization through a multidisciplinary approach. Daily, we offer psychoeducational groups focused on improving the lives of patients experiencing disorders of thought including, but not limited to, skills building, relapse prevention, healthy choices, and therapeutic recreational activities.
We take pride in our awesome nursing team who are dedicated to providing excellent care to our patients. We recognize the challenges our patients face, and we strive to provide a therapeutic patient-centered environment where they can begin their healing process. We embrace recovery oriented principles of care, where we help the patient identify his or her own definitions of wellness and recovery and then individualize their care to help them meet their goals.
We have a Psychosis team that that collaborates through all levels of care in order to provide continuity and increase the compliance rates of our patients. We meet weekly and problem solve any issues related to treatment.
We have a strong shared governance model, and encourage open communication and problem solving. We want everyone to know that their voice is heard and have an opportunity to make changes at their level of practice.
