Our unit specializes in perioperative services, which includes managing surgeries for both the inpatient and outpatient populations, and delivering age specific care to alleviate common surgery-related fears and anxiety in children. We strive to reunite patients with their families as soon as possible during the surgical recovery phase.
Our staff participates in shared governance of the unit with a focus on quality, customer service, evidence enhanced practice, and professional development.
A typical shift for our nurses includes providing pre- and post-procedure and surgery care for 70 to 100 children per day while collaborating with a team consisting of admitting specialists, family guest service representatives, medical receptionists, clinical technicians, attending physicians, resident physicians, CRNA’s, child life specialists, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners.
We pride ourselves on excellent patient care, strong values on professional development, and shared governance. We value diversity and offer opportunities for each team member to contribute their unique skill set to our quality improvement process.
