I’m Cristina Loaiza, BSN, RN. I am the manager of the Inpatient Pediatric Surgery and Adolescent Medicine unit located on the 8th floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
To work in the Pediatric Surgery and Adolescent Medicine unit, our nurses must provide care for children with a variety of surgical and medical diagnoses

Our unit specializes in caring for children requiring nursing care for surgery, trauma, medical conditions, and conditions requiring surgical intervention, including inpatients and extended recovery room patients.
The unit is divided into three areas (or “pods”) of care:
Our patient focus is on providing excellent, quality care in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team, patients, and patient families.
