Keith Obstein, MD, MPH

Assistant Professor of Medicine

Education

Dr. Obstein graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his Medical Degree from Northwestern University Medical School.  He then earned a Master of Public Health at Harvard University.

Postgraduate Training

Dr. Obstein completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and fellowship in Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.  He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

Clinical and Research Interests

Dr. Obstein is an active clinician with focus on General Gastroenterology.  He conducts research in the areas of Image Guided Technology, New Technologies, Device Development, Endoscopic Training, and Healthcare Quality Improvement.  His work has been funded by the Department of Defense supported Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT), the Vanderbilt Initiative for Surgery and Engineering (VISE), and the Vanderbilt University Discovery Grant Program.
