Eric Sumner, MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr. Sumner joined the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the Faculty of the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center  in 2008.

Education

Dr. Sumner received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and he earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.

Postgraduate Training

Dr. Sumner completed an internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  This was followed by fellowship training in gastroenterology, also at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Sumner interests include general gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy with endoscopic ultrasound, video capsule enteroscopy, and deep enteroscopy.
