The Department of Pathology has a rich history and from its inception research has been a major emphasis in this department. Today, our research programs as well as our doctoral (graduate program) and postdoctoral training programs comprise the Division of Investigative Pathology. The primary areas of research within our department are vascular biology and tumor biology, and our faculty have funded research programs on a wide variety of topics within these general areas. The goal of our research is to elucidate the mysteries of normal biology and the fundamental mechanisms of human disease processes at both the cellular and molecular levels. All of our investigators are engaged in state-of-the-art research using the tools of modern biological science. The Division of Investigative Pathology is undergoing marked expansion. We are recruiting new faculty in both vascular biology and tumor biology, and we are committed to taking a leadership role in both basic and translational research in these areas.
