The VNDAC now has a special automated software (not commercially available) that allows us to take your CT images and analyze the skeletal muscle and adipose tissue (visceral and subcutaneous) volume. These analyses have strong correlations (>0.90) with whole body measurement of skeletal muscle, VAT and SAT.
The VNDAC is co-hosting a speaking engagement at VUMC on January 21, 2014. Dr. Vickie Baracos, Professor and Alberta Cancer Foundation Chair in Pallative Medicine, will be speaking on "CT Imaging of Skeletal Muscle Mass in Cancer Patients: A Predictor of Chemotherapy Metabolism & Toxicity, and Survival." All are welcome to attend. Room TBD.
