Vitamin D Test Information;
 Vanderbilt established new send-out tests for both
25-Hydroxy and 1,25-Dihydroxy Vitamin D Levels, to be analyzed by LC-MS/MS. The  new LC-MS/MS method is more sensitive and specific, allowing for detection and quantification of both 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D2 (25-Hydroxyergocalciferol) and D3 (25-Hydroxycholecalciferol). This information is essential to patients undergoing therapy for Vitamin D deficiency who are taking higher doses (~50,000 IU) of Vitamin D2.

Updated Test Information:

Alpha Fetoprotein amniotic fluid, Test code: AAF
Amniotic fluid AFP with a positive screen (MoM > 2.5) will automatically reflex to Acetylcholinesterase testing.

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) recommends that all abnormal amniotic fluid Alpha Fetoprotein (AAF) results be confirmed by measuring acetylcholinesterase (ACHE) in the amniotic fluid.  Therefore, we have implemented the policy that all positive AAF specimens will automatically be sent out for confirmatory ACHE testing.
