VUMC Web Initiative
In September of 2007 a new patient-focused Web site, www.VanderbiltHealth.com, was launched and kicked off a new era in VUMC Web development. With executive leadership's blessings, the VUMC Web Development team partnered with VUMC Marketing, Brand Venture, Inc., and the Patient & Family Advisory Council to do our due diligence. We held twenty-six focus groups which included a variety of audiences.
The results were surprising. They told us how they wanted us to share our services with them. It not only included the way we spoke to them, but graphics as well. The result can be seen at www.VanderbiltHealth.com, VanderbiltNeurosciences.com, VanderbiltTransplant.com, and more.
Now our task is to help all clinical VUMC Web sites use the insights gained from the Web development process to create and maintain sites that have a consistent look, organization, and speak to our audience as they requested. To do this, VUMC Communications has added additional Web editors and organizational specialists. They have already done a great job on Vanderbilt's Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, and Integrative Health Web sites. Please contact your Marketing Manager to begin the process of moving your old site into the new format or creating a new one. If you don't know who your Marketing Manager is, call me and I'll try to help.
In March 2008 a new www.mc.vanderbilt.edu Web site was launched. It is for faculty/staff, research, and education. It has a new look that will be echoed through all non-clinical VUMC sites. Please contact my office at 2-2876 to discuss moving your site to this new format.
It should be stated that everyone does not have to come over to the new formats immediately. We are asking patient-focused sites to move to the new format soon. The non-clinical sites are asked to move to the new format the next time they have a major site update or need a whole new site created.
