Women's Imaging Fellowship

Welcome to the Vanderbilt Radiology Women's Imaging section.   Thank you for your interest in our program.  We are currently accepting applications for July 2011.

We offer a one year fellowship in women's imaging which is roughly divided between mammography and ultrasound.  Traditionally, the fellowship has included 6 months of mammography and 6 months of ultrasound, but we would consider a full time breast imaging position as well.

Breast Imaging
The six months of breast imaging offers extensive experience in all modalities:

  • Screening and diagnostic mammography
  • Breast ultrasound, including ultrasound guided procedures
  • Breast MRI and MRI guided biopsies
  • Stereotactic guided interventions

Vanderbilt opened a brand new, state of the art breast center in March 2009 with new expanded space and equipment.   There is an onsite dedicated breast MRI magnet and all digital mammography equipment.  We provide a unique experience to work closely with the breast surgeons and oncologists in the same clinic to discuss patient care and management with a multidiciplinary approach.  You may visit The Breast Center's website at www.vicc.org/thevbc.

Ultrasound
The six months of ultrasound is spent rotating between Vanderbilt University Hospital, The Vanderbilt Clinic and Vanderbilt Center for Women's Imaging.  There is a strong emphasis on gynecologic and obstetric sonography. The Vanderbilt Center for Women's Imaging is an off-campus facility that focuses solely on OB/Gyn ultrasound, providing a unique opportunity in this field.

Additional opportunities are available in:

  • Hysterosalpinograms
  • Sonohysterograms
  • 3D/4D ultrasound image reconstruction
  • Pelvic MRI
  • Fetal MRI
  • Clinical or basic science research
