Test Components: PT/INR, PTT then as indicated: Thrombin Time, Hepzyme treated PT/PTT, PT/PTT Mixing Study, DRVVT Screen & Confirm, Specific Factor Activity & Inhibitors, FBG, Reptilase Time, Pre Kallikrein Screen, HMW Kininogen Screen, and Interpretive Report.
CPT Codes: 85610, 85730, 85670, 85610, 85730, 85732 x3, 85613 x2, 85611 x3, 85210, 85220, 85230, 85240, 85250, 85260, 85270, 85280, 85384, 85635, 85335, 85292, 85293, 80500
Methodology: Clotting
Reference Range: See Individual Components
Tube Type: 4 2.7 mL Light Blue top tube - 3.2 % Sodium Citrate
Specimen: Citrated platelet poor plasma - requires double centrifugation if sending a plasma aliquot. Aliquot(s) must be frozen if not received by lab within 2 hours of collection.

Pediatric Requirements: Pediatric: One 2.7 mL Light blue top - 3.2 % Sodium Citrate; Neonate: Three 1.8 mL Light blu top - 3.2 & Sodium Citrate
Volume: 4.0 mL Plasma
Minimum Volume: 4.0 mL Plasma
Temperature: Room temperature for Light Blue top tube, must be received within 2 hours of draw. Plasma aliquot(s must be frozen if not received by lab within 2 hours of collection.

Stability: Room temperature: 2 hours, Frozen: -70 C for one month
Reasons for Rejection: Clotted sample, incorrectly filled tubes, incorrect tube type, grossly hemolyzed, lipemic and/or icteric sample; whole blood > 2 hours old.

Days Performed: Monday-Friday
TAT: 1 - 3 days

Significance: Direct Thrombin inhibitors may interfere with these assays. Coumadin will interfere with these assays. Heparins will interfere with these assays.

Special Instructions: "Deliver to lab immediately. Tubes must be filled to indicator line and not clotted. Indwelling lines should be flushed with saline only and 5 mL of blood should be discarded prior to collecting samples for coagulation studies. If sending plasma aliquots, DOUBLE CENTRIFUGE plasma samples to produce platelet poor plasma. Samples received from an outside lab must be aliquoted and frozen. Grossly hemlyzed, icteric or lipemic samples may be rejected. Ordering physician name and telephone contact information MUST accompany the sample and request.
