Department: Coagulation
Test Synonym(s): HYC, Thrombosis Panel, Thrombophilia Panel
Test Components: PT/INR, PTT, DRVV & Confirm, Hexagonal Phase PTT, APA Abs (IgG,M,A), B2GPI Abs (IgG,M), FVL, AT3 activity, Protein C & S activity, Free Protein S ag, G20210A gene mutation analysis. Reflex to FVL mutation analysis & AT, Protein C & S ags if needed.
CPT Codes: 85610, 85730, 85612, 85613, 85597, 86147 x 3, 86146 x 2, 85307, 83896 x 2, 83891, 83903, 83892 x 2, 83912, 85300, 85303, 85306, 85301, 85302, 85306, 85305, 83896 x 2, 83912, 83903, 83891, 83892 x 2, 80500
Methodology: Various: clotting, chromogenic and direct detection of mutation R506Q and/or G20210A
Reference Range: See individual assays
Tube Type: Four 2.7mL Light blue top - 3.2% Sodium Citrate
Specimen: Citrated platelet poor plasma - Requires double centrifugation if sending a plasma aliquot. Aliquot(s) must be frozen if not received by lab within two hours of collection.**if sending plasma aliquots, will also require one tube of the centrifuged cells to be sent.

Alternate Specimen: None
Pediatric Requirements: Pediatric: Four 2.7mL Light blue top - 3.2% Sodium Citrate. Neonatal: Three 2.7 mL Light blue top - 3.2% Sodium Citrate.

Volume: 4.0 mL Plasma
Minimum Volume: 40. mL Plasma
Temperature: Room Temperature for Light blue top tube, must be received within two hours of draw. Plasma aliquot(s) must be frozen if not received by lab within two hours of collection.

Stability: Room temperature: 2 hours, Frozen: -70 C for one month
Reasons for Rejection: Clotted sample, incorrectly filled tubes, incorrect tube type, grossly hemolyzed sample, grossly lipemic sample, grossly icteric sample, whole blood >2.0 hours old

Days Performed: Monday - Friday
TAT: 1 - 3 days
Significance: Direct Thrombin inhibitors may interfere with these assays. Coumadin will interfere with these assays. Heparins will interfere with these assays.

Special Instructions: Deliver to lab immediately. Tubes must be filled to indicator line and not clotted. Indwelling lines should be flushed with saline only and 5 mL of blood should be discarded prior to collecting samples for coagulation studies. If sending plasma aliquots, DOUBLE CENTRIFUGE plasma samples to produce platelet poor plasma. Samples received from an outside lab must be aliquoted and frozen. Grossly hemlyzed, icteric or lipemic samples may be rejected. Ordering physician name and telephone contact information MUST accompany the sample and request.
