Significance: Beta-hCG in CSF may assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of germ cell tumors. This testing is NOT indicated for pregnant women and/or amniotic fluid samples.
Special Instructions: This test requires approval from a medical director. The performance characteristics of the Beckman Coulter beta-hCG assay have not been validated in CSF. This test is FDA approved, but not for use in CSF.
