Tube Type: Liquids in sterile leakproof container with NO ADDITIVE; tissue or swab in universal (viral) transport media,3ml
Alternate Specimen: Blood requires consult with the lab
Temperature: Store refrigerated (2-8 C), do not freeze, transport on wet ice
Stability: Labile specimen. Keep refrigerated.
Reasons for Rejection: Collected more than 1 day prior to receipt in lab, calcium alginate or wooden-shaft swab, dry swab
Days Performed: Daily
Times Performed: Monday - Friday: 6:30 am to 11:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

TAT: 1 - 10 days
Special Instructions: Send to laboratory immediately on ice. No wooden shaft, calcium alginate or dry swabs.
