: Light green PST (Lithium Heparin with or without gel) tube - 4.5 mL
: Serum or Plasma
: Sodium Heparin (full draw), Red top tube (with gel) - 5 mL
: 2 microtainers
: 2 mL plasma
: 15 uL plasma
: Separate within one hour and store at ambient temperature until delivery
: 20-25 C: 7 days; 2-8 C: 7 days; -20 C: > 1 year
Reasons for Rejection
: Hemolysis, icteric specimens and lipemia; improper collection, QNS
: STAT: 1 hour; ROUTINE: 2 hours after receiving in lab
: Multiple Myeloma and lipid samples are known to give low results on diluted ISE systems due to high amounts of proteins/lipids present in sample
