Pediatric Requirements: Draw 2 microtainers
Volume: 1 mL plasma
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL plasma
Temperature: Separate within one hour and store at 2-8ºC until delivery
Stability: < 3 days at 4ºC; 6 months at -20ºC
Reasons for Rejection: Hemolysis, improper collection

TAT: STAT: 1 hour; ROUTINE: 2 hours after receiving in lab
Significance: CRP is an acute phase reactant and a non-specific inflammatory marker widely used to assess inflammatory processes. It is elevated in systemic inflammation, bacterial infections, surgery and severe trauma. CRP values should be interpreted in the context of the clinical history.
